Assistance with trade fair participation

Participating in a trade show can help your company, but it’s crucial to have a solid plan behind it. Otherwise, it will never yield a good return! And that’s a waste of investment, both financially and time-wise.

The first question that needs to be answered is:

Why choose to participate in a trade fair?

Clarifying the trade show’s purpose is key. Do you want to meet your current customers in person? Are you looking to find new customers? Or are you looking to introduce a new product? Perhaps you’re looking to find a new market abroad! These are just a few examples of your goals for exhibiting at the trade show.

It’s crucial to consider which trade show is a good fit. Which trade show attracts which visitors? And are they the desired target audience? Or do you want to reach a different type of trade show or target audience for that new market?

Successful trade fair participation

Trade show visitors scan your booth and decide in a split second whether they’ll become a booth visitor. It’s therefore crucial to carefully consider what you want to show at the trade show and what you don’t! We often see booths that have so much to offer that you can’t really see anything. The term “not seeing the forest for the trees” certainly applies here.

So decide which product or service you want to showcase, what will make you stand out? And work towards the goal of your trade show participation.

Once we’ve clearly defined the client’s requirements for the stand, we’ll get to work creating a compelling design. This is a creative process that involves considering the brand identity, objectives, routing, facility ideas, and budget.

After we (Coen and Linda) have thoroughly reviewed and discussed the design, we send the proposal to the client. Sometimes the first draft is immediately convincing and spot on. Other times, we still need to fine-tune a few details . But ultimately, we arrive at the final design together, which we then work on in the workshop and further back in the office. Because this is, of course, only the first step…

Fair preparation

By outsourcing your booth to a full-service stand construction company, you’re free to promote your trade show presence yourself! Both before and during the event.

  • This includes sending invitations and a reminder.
  • Promote your participation on social media, newsletter, website, email signature
  • But also consider online and offline trade journals, media and magazines.

During the trade fair, you can also make it clear that you’re there by organizing a cozy get-together, participating in a lecture, organizing a trade fair promotion, providing good catering, or a fun activity.

Stand staff

In addition, it’s incredibly important to have well-trained booth staff. Your booth might be fantastic, but if everyone’s standing around with their phones in disinterest, no one will come to it!

So, assemble a good team and discuss the goal and how to achieve it. You might consider hiring a hostess or barista ; they work full-time and often create a pleasant atmosphere right away.

After the fair

Once the trade show participation is over, the work only begins. No, that’s not true! But it’s certainly not over immediately. You need to follow up on all the leads you received at the trade show, and you shouldn’t wait too long. It’s still fresh! So you need to capitalize on that. This could be through a phone call, a LinkedIn invitation , an email, a newsletter, etc. Often, a combination of these is best. They need to keep seeing you.

Additionally, an evaluation of the trade show, the stand, the stand builder , and your own team is important. List all the positive and negative points and discuss them with the people responsible. This way, you can learn from this for the next edition.
